Firefly heading into UK

COVENTRY February 2nd 2021 – EVtec Automotive, an electric vehicle automotive supply specialty electric vehicle company, has announced plans to assemble and distribute FireFly, and innovate the three-wheel utility EV market.

The FireFly, designed and developed by US based ev Transportation Services Inc. (evTS”), is already proving to be a functional and disruptive alternative, within the United States, as a rapid-response “last mile” delivery vehicle. EVtec Automotive will assemble the versatile FireFly in the UK, selling directly to British and European customers. It is expected that 5,000 units will be manufactured and sold within the next three years, with EVtec Automotive aiming to utilize a UK supply chain wherever feasible.

FireFly is a purpose-built fully electric two seat lightweight utility vehicle, with a battery range that will exceed 100 miles and offer a top speed of 55mph. FireFly will be capable of up to 1756 litres of carrying capacity, 499kg of towing ability and will be available with 16 option packs, allowing customers to tailor it to specific intended usage.

Sales will be direct, and prices will be announced in the coming months. FireFly will be offered with a host of end-to-end leasing deals, including sustainable disposal, for the convenience of businesses and local authorities that will make up the bulk of its intended customer base. The FireFly is entering a marketplace that is witnessing rapidly accelerated incremental growth. Reports indicate that demand for zero-emissions last-mile deliveries are set to grow by 78% by 2030.*

David Roberts, Chair of Auto Innovation Group stated, “Manufacturing and distributing the FireFly represents another key step for AIG’s rapidly growing footprint across the burgeoning EV space. This expands on the recent acquisition of Arlington Automotive, where we were able to save 200 jobs, including those of 60 disabled workers. We firmly believe that it is essential that the UK establishes a viable supply chain for electric vehicles and the skills required to develop and build them. This will secure the future of the UK car industry”

Mr. Roberts added, “It is essential that society moves to a more sustainable future. Our ethos as a business is clear: help to establish a zero-emissions future, drive profit to create ESG principle values, and focus on employing more disadvantaged persons.”

Steve Norris, Chair of EVtec Automotive remarked, “We are very excited to be able to partner with AIG in order to manufacture and offer FireFly to the UK, and then the greater EU markets, in a British plant. This is an innovative vehicle that directly meets the ever increasing demand for companies and cities to have small, agile zero-emissions urban delivery and utility vehicles in their respective fleets. The possible uses for FireFly are virtually endless, and thus we are anticipating high demand when customers see how versatile and capable it is.”
